Services Provided:
- A prenatal visit to discuss:
- medical and family history
- birth expectations and fears
- questions from your childbirth
class
- extensive information regarding the dynamics of labor
and delivery
- role definitions of the people attending your
birth
- your options during labor including methods for pain
relief
- postnatal expectations
- Twenty-four hour on-call beginning two weeks before the projected
due date
- Early labor support individualized to the client’s
needs
- Continuity of care once active labor has begun until
2-3 hours postpartum
- Assists in maintaining a calm, productive atmosphere
- Advocacy between the hospital staff and client
- A postpartum
visit to discuss healing, infant care, adjustment issues
- Lactation
education and breastfeeding support\unlimited phone and email
support
- Pictorial and birth story with a handmade gift for your
baby
Expectations of the Client:
- Open, honest communication on issues that will have a bearing
on your childbirth experience
- Updates regarding your prenatal visits
- Contact me during business hours unless it is an emergency (
8:00 am – 8:00 pm )
- Call me at the start of labor or when your water breaks. Contact
me every 3 hours thereafter to keep me informed on your status
- Follow my postnatal advice, which includes:
- At least 10 days of solid rest after the baby’s birth.
- Drink plenty of fluids and eat nourishing meals.
- REST – nap with your baby is napping.
- Do not begin dieting or heavy exercising until your 6 week appointment
with your healthcare provider.
- If your bleeding has turned pink or brown, the goes back to
red, you are doing too much! Put your feet up and take it easy.
- Call me every week, for 4 weeks, after your baby’s birth.
- Call me right away if you have any postpartum concerns, breast-feeding
issues, baby-blues etc.
- Enjoy this time! Consider it a “baby moon.” Give
you baby kisses, nurse when you can and enjoy the bonding time.
You have the whole rest of your life to manage schedules and be
busy.
